:I've change the name without Vk-template, so no using of "!" as delimiter for the link. In the missing range table there's no link, because the MR-Name contains a "(", which the template will ignore to make a link from it. Users in brackets do not get a person page from this, until the real name is known and inserted instead. Will there be a case where a partially parenthesized name refers to a person whose real name is unknown? New parentheses code breaks (near-)Woodall multi-reservation link
Multi Reservation:14 (which is the reservation for my personal project for filling in the gaps in Woodall and near-Woodall k's) uses a custom piped link in its name, designed to display a formatted k in the link output. However, the new code in this template is deleting the link due to the parentheses around "Near", resulting in ugly code displaying on Riesel 2 Missing-range. While the merits of a redlink to a page that will likely never be created are debatable, ideally this template should only omit the link for a contributor when the whole string is parenthesized, not just part of it. -happy5214 03:53, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- I've change the name without Vk-template, so no using of "!" as delimiter for the link. In the missing range table there's no link, because the MR-Name contains a "(", which the template will ignore to make a link from it. Users in brackets do not get a person page from this, until the real name is known and inserted instead. Karbon (talk) 08:05, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- I understand the original reasoning, but I just think it should only omit the string if the whole string is surrounded by parentheses, not just part of it. Will there be a case where a partially parenthesized name refers to a person whose real name is unknown? There could theoretically be a case of a project or drive with parentheses around part of its name. -happy5214 00:10, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
