Gordon Spence is a GIMPS participant from Hampshire who discovered the 36th Mersenne prime, 22,976,221-1. Spence was 38 years old at time of discovery; he is married to wife Lynn and has two daughters, Rachel and Danielle.
According to Spence, his interests include "drag racing, playing Quake, my family (not in that order!!) and of course, searching for big prime numbers."
