Revision as of 22:02, 25 June 2024
For the place-holder dates prior to about 1995 for prime submissions at top-5000, Karsten and I have been handling them as follows:
1. If the date is Jan. 1st, we show the prior year with no month or day, i.e. 1989 in this case.
2. If the date is the 1st of some other month, we show the year and month of the previous month, i.e. 3/1/1993 would be shown as 1993-02 with no day shown.
All (most) of the old dates were entered in CST (U.S. Central time zone) as the last day, minute, and second of the month or year in which they were discovered, i.e. time of 23:59:59. When PrimeGrid took it over, all of the times were converted to UTC effectively adding 5 or 6 hours to them. The dates are now the 1st of the month following the find and the times are all 4:59:59 or 5:59:59 depending on CST daylight saving time at the time of submission. It would be UTC-6 in winter and UTC-5 in summer.
Showing at least the year would provide more info than ? but would be more accurate than 1990-01-01.
