Move a page/category instead deleting!
Next time use the move-menupoint instead of deleting a page and creating a new one. You delete the whole history when deleting like that. Moving a page to a category is also possible. Learn Wiki-handling or ask how to, otherwise I will remove your rights to do so. Karbon (talk) 19:58, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

- There is a misunderstanding. To clarify everything, here is what was done:
- 1. Complete the following PrimeGrid projects in the Navbox template: 27121 Prime Search, Proth Mega Prime Search, Fermat Divisor Search, Sophie Germain Search.
- 2. Delete the corresponding categories for the above projects. The only history in these categories was when they were newly added. No additional history was lost.
- 3. Add new categories for the following ongoing PrimeGrid projects: Cullen Prime Search, Generalized Fermat Prime Search, Woodall Prime Search.
- 4. Update the project pages in #3 to point to the new categories. A small change was made at the bottom of each page. There were no previously existing categories for these projects. There was nothing to move and nothing to delete.

- Two things likely caused the misunderstanding:
- 1. When adding one of the categories in #3, an incorrect name was used. "Category:Generalized Fermat Prime Search" was originally added. That was deleted and a corrected "Category:PrimeGrid Generalized Fermat Prime Search" was added. The "PrimeGrid" prefix had been initially omitted. There was no associated history with the one that was deleted since it had just been incorrectly added.
- 2. When the updates were done in #4 above, the reason stated was "correct category for ongoing project". That was inaccurate. There was no previous category for the projects. They were newly added. It should have said "add category for ongoing project".

- By doing the above, all ongoing PrimeGrid projects now have their own category. All completed PrimeGrid projects no longer have a category. They are now consistent with NPLB and RPS projects in that regard. Gary Barnes (talk) 17:16, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
