BOINC

BOINC is an acronym for Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing.

This is a platform on which many distributed computing projects run. It provides services to the applications so the user can run two or more distributed computing applications at the same time.

The distributed computing applications must be designed to operate with BOINC in order to run on this platform.
