Talk:Riesel prime 2 3981

From Prime-Wiki

history explanation

This k could not have been searched by Free-DC drive 1. If it had, they would have found 3 top-5000 primes for n=405K-540K in 2009-2010. Because all 3 of the primes were initially known when Karsten created this k in the Wiki on 2020-08-10, it is assumed that all pairs fell into his "missing pairs" category when he filled in the search gaps for drive 1 on 2014-10-16.

Due to the above assumption, the Max n remained at n=540K and "tested missing pairs" was removed from the the n=400K-540K search range indicating that the range was tested entirely by Karsten. If this assumption is incorrect, then "tested missing pairs" should be reinstated and the Max n reduced to n=400K since it is not known if all pairs were tested for n=400K-540K. I felt it was a good assumption that the entire range had been tested due to 3 primes having been found in the range.

Additional research confirmed that the k was not searched by Free-DC drive 1 per this post. Gary Barnes (talk) 05:27, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
